Who I am
Open Sign Web is the trading name of Oluwatunmise Sesan-Awe, a sole trader at 46 Dragon Road, Hatfield AL10 9LX. I am the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].
If you visit this website
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes basic technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare keeps this data under its own privacy policy. The fonts are stored on this site, so your browser does not contact Google or any other font service.
If I contacted your business
I find local businesses whose website is missing, unfinished or out of date, and offer them a new one. To do that I collect business contact details from public sources only:
- your Google Maps business listing (business name, address, phone number, website, opening hours, rating, and the photos and reviews shown there);
- your existing website (for example a contact email address);
- Companies House, for limited companies (company name, number, status, registered office and directors’ names).
Why, and on what legal basis. I use these details to build a free preview website for your business and to tell you about it once, with up to two follow-up messages. My lawful basis is legitimate interests: offering a relevant service to a business, using information the business has made public. I have weighed this against your interests: I collect only business details, contact you a small number of times, and stop immediately if you ask.
How I contact you. I only send marketing emails to limited companies and similar corporate bodies, as UK law (PECR) allows, and always with a clear way to opt out. Sole traders and partnerships are contacted by post, not by email, unless they have asked to hear from me.
The preview. Your preview is hosted on a private link that search engines are told not to index. It uses your public Google listing photos and details so you can see how a site would look. I never present it as your official website.
How long I keep it. If you don’t reply, I delete your preview 30 days after my last message and your details after 90 days. If you ask me to stop, I delete them straight away and keep only your business name and contact address on a suppression list, so that I never contact you again.
If you become a client
I use your details to deliver the work you ordered, invoice you and keep business records. The legal basis is the contract between us, plus my legal obligation to keep accounting records (normally six years). If I host a contact form or other service on your website, I process your visitors’ data on your behalf under a written data processing agreement.
Who else sees your data
I use a small number of trusted services to run the business: Google Workspace (email and documents), Google Maps Platform (finding businesses), Companies House (company checks), Cloudflare (hosting and DNS) and, for letters, a print-and-post service. I don’t sell or share your data with anyone else. Some of these services may process data outside the UK under UK-approved safeguards.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of your data, ask me to correct it or delete it, object to my using it, or ask me to stop marketing to you at any time. Email [email protected] and I’ll respond within one month. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change too.
